What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis itself is one of the most misunderstood phenomena, indeed ‘hypnosis’ itself is a much misunderstood term. When used in therapeutic settings using hypnosis is definitely not about losing control, its about gaining more control and empowering the client to make pre-discussed and agreed changes in a quick and efficient way by accessing and working with the subconscious mind.
We all drift in and out of hypnotic trances throughout our daily life, it is a totally natural state. It is not a state of sleep or being unconscious but a state of focused attention ranging from a light daydream like state to deep relaxation. It is not the hypnosis that does the work in therapy but it does allow more efficient therapeutic work to take place as we engage more deeply when working from within these states of comfortable heightened focus and awareness. Those who experience hypnosis find it to be a very relaxing and pleasant experience. The comfort brought about by hypnosis makes it easier for the individual to talk about emotive issues and for therapy to take place.
Clinical hypnotherapy
Clinical hypnotherapy is the modality of hypnotherapy that most people are more familiar with. Clinical Hypnotherapy uses variable levels of relaxation or sometimes just focused awareness combined with techniques to change habits, work with common emotional and psychological problems and achieve lasting change.
Analytical hypnotherapy
Analytical hypnotherapy also known as hypno-analysis is a powerful therapy that combines mindfulness, relaxation or hypnosis with a form of psychanalysis to efficiently resolve more deep rooted issues that complex or are resistant to other forms of therapy or counselling.
